June Specials!!!! SPLASH DOWN Austin Style

So, I am taking a small detour from my backlog of blog entries for this special announcement:

All photography sessions by Tiffany Hofeldt taking place in or around Austin, Texas AND including water in the sessions, will be HALF OFF! I have never run a special like this before, but I’m thinking it’s gonna be a hot one this summer and well, who couldn’t use a cool down. If you need some inspiration call me (512-557-4377) and we’ll pull something together truly unique and representative of living in central Texas!

Some “gimme” idea are the new fountains by the Long Center, canoeing on Ladybird Lake and of course, your very own back yard pool or favorite Austin, Texas watering hole—-another great one would be McKinney Falls! So close, yet so FAR OUT! A true Austin wonder! Here’s a few images to get your juices flowing!

This offer is ONLY for the month of JUNE! JUNE ONLY! Inquire about booking at tiffany@tiffanysnyderphotography.com or just call me up!

Daddy Daughter Dance (say it fives times quickly)

That was a really busy week, Vegas for four days, back to Houston for the Texas Sapphires on Friday and then LTF’s Father Daughter Dance on Saturday….but how could I say no? And now you know why I, and so many other good-hearted bloggers, fail to blog on a regular basis.

For the past few years I have been shooting The Annual Father Daughter Dance at S. Austin’s Lifetime Fitness. I cannot tell you what a HUGE success these dances are! The girls and their daddies are on the dance floor from the time the doors open until the DJ pulls the plug on Mylie Cyrus’ last song of the evening. That is, except when they form a line out the door to have their pictures made! It is just a Princess Parade getting to see all these gorgeous dresses on the beautiful girls who just grin from ear to ear all night long. I bet more than half of them were fast asleep before the even got home.

It’s nice when events like this hire a photographer to help capture the evening for its attendees. I was surprised to learn that not many photographers do printing on location like this. It was a little stressful, but my assistant did the printing while I did the shooting and we knocked it out awesomely.

Here’s a few examples before I move on to some really fun stuff!

The Texas Sapphires

…and then it was back to Texas and right off the plane to a photo session for the Texas Sapphires. Voted Austin’s Best New Band of the Year in 2006, the Texas Sapphires, features fierce guitarman Billy Brent Malkus as its frontman and former punker Rebecca Lucille Cannon as its frontwoman. Together, they make beautiful music, but I had some strict instructions for this session: “Don’t make us look like brother and sister!” and “Don’t make us look like boyfriend/girlfriend.” “That would just be, you know….ewww.”

Vegas Baby Part III

My computer is running really slow. Even as I type this the letters aren’t showing up as quick as I type them. This usually happens when I’m near capacity with images all over my computer’s poor little memory. And the reason many of them are still here is because, having good intentions, I have meant to blog about them before I swept them off. But now, with at least 20,000 images on my computer, something must be done. Work work work. So finally, here’s Vegas Baby Part III. Where my sexy model got her groove on at the Encore, currently Vegas’ fanciest hotel. Things are always steamy in Vegas…in one way or another. Well, let these images speak for themselves.

I just love the low light here:

Love this wall! Where else but Vegas can you find a houndstooth fabric wall??

Vegas Baby Part II - The Bricklaying Competition

This competition is the largest bricklaying competition in the world. Here, the best masons in the world compete in twenty, two-man teams, building a specified 26 foot, double wythe, masonry brick wall in just 60 minutes. The judging of the competition is based on a combination of quality craftsmanship and the amount of brick laid and the winner drives away in a 2009 Ford F-250 XLT Super Duty 4×4 Truck. Plus, there was lots and lots of cash and prizes for non-first placers! I went there knowing nothing about masonry OR bricklaying, and came away with no only some insight, but also these great images:

Vegas Baby! Part 1

In February I was hired by Caterpillar and the United States Hispanic Contractors Association to shoot the World of Concrete convention in the land of Liberace. Four days in Vegas and about one hour of sleep per day.  If I wasn’t working…..I was working!  What I mean is that more work (fun work) surfaced once I arrived.

I did find some time to spend in the casinos, but it would have been better if I hadn’t.  Someone had to win, but ultimately, that someone was not to be me.

So there might be a few different Vegas posts (I am so committed).  The convention pretty much blew my mind.  There were machines and tools galore and the most popular booths had glamour girls handing out their information.  And since it was Vegas, almost everyone was walking around with a beer in hand, even though it was barely noon.  The convention included the world famous Brick Laying Competition which drew contestants and spectators from near and far.

I took this one for my boys who are currently crazy for the Pink Panther.

Shiny stuff from Caterpillar that everyone was ga-ga to have.

The whole convention was about men and their toys..really, really expensive and often big and usually shiny toys.

I think for the time and place, this was bling!

I saw these Amish guys at the convention.  I wondered a little about that.

A little hotel detail:

The staff at the cocktail parties are exceptionally trained:

And easy on the eyes:

Seniors Rule! Elizabeth is no exception

Seniors are so much fun to photograph because they are so proud of their accomplishments and it shows.  Senior portraits have come a long way from the days of two choices: cap and gown or off the shoulder velvet wrap.  Even then I remember asking myself why this rite of passage of bad pictures was so necessary.  I’m glad for seniors who take the opportunity to let there personalities shine through in their portraits. And as long as I’m talking rites of passage, I just had a call from someone wanting FRESHMAN portraits!  Now there’s a good idea!

My personal favorite:

You just couldn’t asked for more beautiful light!

I just loved the aged texture of this wall:

Footloose and Fancy Free

SO I have never been so busy during the first few months of each year as I was this one.  I have had some really unique jobs, like shooting for Caterpillar at the World of Concrete Convention in Las Vegas, NV, getting to shoot Austin band, The Texas Sapphires for their upcoming CD and taking some of the funnest engagement photos …but more on those later.

Four moms, four beautiful girls and at least four costume changes.  It was a Princess Parade.  These girls, all best friends from school had a ball in front of my camera and the moms swore we needed to do it again and again…ultimately reposing in the same line-up for Senior Prom.  Awwwww.

I just love this one…..like little cherubs.

another favorite of mine…which I could make these dang images bigger!

One little sister joined in the fun, but was more interested in the sandbox outside!

Such a SWEET Valentines Day dress!

Andee and Donnie

Already there is talk…

It always starts as soon as the new year hits.  People start talking about SXSW (do I need to explain what that is?) in January!  So I thought, I’d contribute to the fanfare by posting this shot taken at last year’s festivites.  It’s of the beautiful AND talented Carrie Rodriguez warming up backstage for her concert at The Oaks.  Cheers!
